The invention concerns a pipe fitting with an internally threaded socket and an externally threaded spigot. The invention calls for the thread on the spigot (16) and socket (17) to have at least one section (19) having at least one half-turn in which the land width (B) is different from the constant land width(s) (B1, B3) in the immediately adjacent section(s) (20, 21), a change occuring in the mean land width to mean space width ratio across this different section (19) such that, in the case when there are two immediately adjacent sections (20, 21), the ratio in these two sections is in the opposite sense, so that the sum of the land width and space width, and hence the pitch (p), remains constant across all three sections (19, 20, 21). |
