The device has a series of magnetic heads which rotate at the periphery of an equatorial slot in a cylindrical drum. A magnetic tape passes in a spiral over the surface of the cylindrical drum and a capacitive coupling (20) transmits the electrical signals. The coupling has fixed (47b-52b) and moving sections which comprise a stator and a rotor respectively and are in the form of rings and/or ring segments. The rings or ring segments are positioned in two parallel planes perpendicular to the rotor's axis of rotation. The fixed and moving sections are positioned so they face one another.
