A tensioning unit, esp for an endless tensioning arrangement, consists of a housing (3) with a receiving and a guide opening (4), a tensioning plunger (1), a spring energy store (7) and a friction damping element (5) located between the plunger and the housing wall (13). The damping element has a wedge shaped surface (12) which can be contacted with a similar surface (11) on the plunger. The surfaces press together axially and the damping element broadens radially and the element is pressed against the housing wall. The damping element pref. consists of plastic esp. PTFE. |
