PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane switch which is good in the touch feel and operates stably. SOLUTION: A sheet substrate comprises an elastic resin sheet 11 and a flexible substrate 12. A domed swollen part 13 is formed in the resin sheet 11. A fixed contact 16 is formed on the flexible substrate 12. The swollen part 13 comprises a thick-walled part 13b having a flat surface and a rising part 13b having the same thickness as the resin sheet 11. A movable contact 14 is formed on the flat surface of the thick-walled part 13a. When the swollen part 13 is pressed by the pressing part 21a of an operating element, the area of contact between the movable contact 14 and the fixed contact 16 is increased. Also, not the thick-walled part 13a but only the rising part 13b is deformed to ensure buckling phenomenon. The buckling phenomenon provides a snap or click feel.
