PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect a public telephone network to an asynchronous transmission mode system mutually and to provide analog telephone service through an asynchronous transmission mode private network by accommodating (converting) an analog telephone number transmitted from the public telephone network in to an asynchronous transmission mode cell. SOLUTION: The analog telephone signals of respective channels CH1-CHn, which are inputted from the public telephone network PSTN are converted into ATM cells by a public telephone network interface parat 10 and a first ATM processing part 20, converted into the analog telephone signals by a second ATM processing part 40 and a subscriber interface part 50 and outputted to respective subscribers 60. The analog telephone numbers inputted from the respective subscribers 60 are outputted to the public telephone network PSTN in the same way. Thus, analog telephone service is provided by the asynchronous transmission mode private network, and a time slot which is held without usage is removed, so that the availability of a line is enhanced. |
