This invention relates to the detection, measurement and analysis of radiation filled environments, particularly the simultaneous examination of radiation intensity and wavelength which can be performed in a standardized manner in the field while maintaining the safety of field personnel. Emphasis is placed upon the environment of sealed drums of radioactive waste.
