[Also in Division C3] An article is coated with a ureide copolymer which is produced by addition copolymerising maleic acid mono-ureide, with optionally maleic anhydride, and a copolymerisable unsaturated monomer. In the examples (1) a copolymer of maleic mono-ureide, styrene and butyl and ethyl acrylates in solution in methyl glycol (ethylene glycol monomethyl ether) and diacetone alcohol, together with TiO 2 is applied to a sheet metal and heated; the copolymer is also reacted with an epoxy resin and a melamine resin and used as a coating as before: (4) sheet metal is coated with a copolymer as in (1) with the butyl acrylate replaced by 4-hydroxy butyl maleate, in an aqueous solution also containing butyl glycol, the copolymer being neutralised with diethanolamine and also compounded with a melamine formaldehyde resin. |
