PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the shading influence by means of a small number of work memories with respect to a line drawing where the conspicuous shading influence is easily caused and to obtain a nice-looking image. SOLUTION: It is decided for every prescribed line of the input image data whether the pixels forming the line are equal to the pixels forming an edge part of a line drawing, and the luminance value of each pixel where the luminance influence of the edge part of the line drawing is eliminated is calculated for a processing object line by the background estimation processing (s1). Then it is decided whether the influence of the line drawing part other than the edge part is included in the luminance value of each pixel of the processing object line and the luminance value of each pixel where the influence of the line drawing part is eliminated is calculated when the said influence is included in the luminance value of each pixel by the background estimation correction processing (s2). Furthermore, the luminance is corrected to obtain the desired luminance value and the background is corrected based on the luminance value that is calculated for each pixel by the background correction processing (s3). |
