PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode conductive material for a sodium-sulfur battery, which can be manufactured at a low cost without giving adverse effect on the battery performance, by providing a base material, which is formed of a carbon fiber belt at a low price using isotropic pitch as a raw material, with a layer of PAN carbon fiber belt, and performing a needle punch from this layer side. SOLUTION: In a sodium-sulfur battery, melted sodium as a negative electrode active material is separated byβ-alumina solid electrolyte, and operated at 300-350 deg.C. At this stage, molten sulfur is impregnated with a positive electrode conductive material for holding. As this positive electrode conductive material 12, carbon fiber belt 13, which is formed of an isotropic pitch at a low cost, is used as a base material. Furthermore, this base material is formed with a layer 14, which is formed of PAN carbon fiber belt having a small electrical resistance at 30-70% of the total thickness. Continuously, anα-alumina powder layer 15 or a glass fiber belt layer 16 is provided on the layer 14, and needle punch is performed from over.
