PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the user to control electric devices in a home with the same operation method as access to the Internet. SOLUTION: A television receiver TV2, a video tape recorder VTR 3, and a personal computer PC 4 are connected by a network such as a LAN and the network is connected to a public line for transmission reception of information with an external device via a gateway unit 1. Private addresses in IP addresses used for the Internet are assigned to electronic devices 2-4 in a home and the gateway unit 1. Then the electronic devices 2, 3 are respectively incorporated with world wide web WWW servers 2a, 3a that have a function of sending data written in the hyper text markup language HTML according to a hyper text transfer protocol HTTP and the electronic devices 2, 4 are incorporated respectively with WWW browsers 2b, 4b that have functions of displaying the HTML data received according to the HTTP onto a screen. |
