PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system for improving the traction characteristics of an internal combustion type locomotive while maintaining the characteristics of an internal combustion engine in the internal combustion engine type electric locomotive. SOLUTION: An internal combustion type electric locomotive consists of an AC electric motor 2 that is driven by an internal engine 1 and a rectifying device 3 for performing the power conversion of the output of the electric motor and a group of electric motors for driving that are driven by receiving the power supply. In the electric locomotive, a plurality of internal combustion engine electric generator sets are mounted, its output power is connected in series, and each output power is superposed and power is supplied to a group of electric motors for drive. As a result, even if the output power of the internal combustion engine electric generator sets reaches an output control constant region, the output power of the internal combustion engine electric generator sets at a next stage is superposed and a power is supplied to a group of electric motors for drive, thus expanding the traction constant region of the internal combustion type electric locomotive. |
