PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of the lighting device and to markedly improve the lighting energy efficiency by eliminating dispersion in the lightness over the entire lighting region to the utmost with a simple configuration, so as to reduce number of light sources in the case of configuring the device lighting a linear region. SOLUTION: A linear light source device 10 is provided with a light- transmitting member 20 that uses a side face at one side of a long transparent member in a broadwise direction as a light-emitting face 21 and where a light incidence section is formed to a middle part of other side faces than the light- emitting face 21 in the lengthwise direction, and with a light source placed to a light incidence section 23 of the light-transmitting member 20, in which the light made incident from the light incidence section 23 to the light- transmitting member 20 is propagated into the inside of the light-transmitting member 20 in the lengthwise direction and emitted from the entire region or almost the entire region of the light-emitting face 21, and a reflecting face 40 is placed along a side face formed with the light incidence section 23 in the light-transmitting member 20. |
