PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the energy density, charge/discharge efficiency, and cycle characteristic of an electrical double-layer capacitor. SOLUTION: Sugars are heat-treated at a low temperature in atmosphere and then is cooled, again heated at a temperature ranging from 650 deg.C to 750 deg.C in nitrogen or argon atmosphere after rough crushing, and are carbonized. Then, an activation agent is added to the obtained carbide by 4-6 times larger in terms of weight ratio and is heated and activated in nitrogen or argon atmosphere at a temperature ranging from 800 to 1,000 deg.C to manufacture activated charcoal. The activated charcoal is used for an electrode material, thus manufacturing an electrical double-layer capacitor. |
