IMAGE REPRODUCING DEVICE AND ITS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide image reproducing device/method for recording/reproducing the still image of high definition without the need of a private still image processing part and RAM for accumulating image data for processing by the still image processing part. SOLUTION: For reproducing an image signal from a recording medium where DCT coefficient data are quantized and recorded at every DCT block where all image signals are two-dimensionally arranged as the continuous image of a frame and the prescribed number of pixels is set to be a unit, a reproduction signal from the recording medium is inversely quantized in an inverse quantization processing part 5 and DCT coefficient data are generated. An inverse DCT operation part 4 generates reproduced image data from DCT coefficient data and detects motion at every DCT block based on DCT coefficient data. A deblocking/deshuffling processing part 2 substitutes motion detection information for the lowest bit of reproduced image data on the corresponding DCT block.
