Sheets delivered from a printing-machine are gripped by their leading edges by grippers 13 carried on endless chains, brought over a stack, and released on to the stack when the grippers are opened when rollers 17 engage a surface 18 of a stationary cam 1. In order to vary the position of release according to the weight of the sheets, the cam is mounted for longitudinal adjustment, being mounted on pins 2, 3. The cam is connected by a bridge 5 to a segment 7 mounted eccentrically on a shaft 8 having a recess which, when the cam is moved to the right, accommodates the bridge and the end portion of the cam, the cam, bridge and segment presenting a continuous surface to the rollers 17 to avoid premature re-closing of the grippers. The cam is adjusted by a rotatable rod engaging through worm gearing a pinion 10 meshing with teeth 20 on the cam. |
