1,139,805. Compression moulding. SAMCOSTRONG Ltd. 15 Feb., 1966 [17 Feb., 1965], No. 6796/65. Heading B5A. An article 1, e.g. a printing-plate, on a mould 2, is pressure moulded between heated platens 3, 4, and brought to a desired thickness by spacers 5 carried by the lower platen which is urged upwardly by a ram 6. Any excess pressure produced between the platens in this moulding position causes the spacers to deform the sides of the lower platen slightly and operate a microswitch which effects a reduction in the pressure and eliminates the deformation. In the embodiment of Figs. 5 and 6, (not shown), a U-shaped member (11) has its ends attached midway of the sides of the lower platen so that when the lower platen is slightly deformed by excess moulding pressure, a lever (14) pivoted thereon to a bolt (16) is urged against a fulcrum (15) causing the lever to pivot and operate a microswitch (17); a spring (18) engages the other end of the lever. The bolt (16) is adjustably connected to the lower platen by a bracket. |
