Washing machine has a lye pump provided at its outlet with a control device arranged for recirculation or pumping away of washing lye or rinsing water. The device comprises two elements which deflect the fluid flow into two selectable discharge openings and an element serving to selectively divide the fluid flow into partial streams. The elements are arranged in series such that the four outlets of the elements are connected with the discharge openings in such a manner that the total flow of fluid can flow selectively in one of the two discharge openings or each of the partial streams can flow in both of the discharge openings. Pref. the elements are arranged as gates.
