NEGATIVE ELECTRODE FOR LITHIUM SECONDARY BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery with great charge/discharge capacity. SOLUTION: This negative electrode is formed with a lithium storage to a negative electrode substrate. The negative electrode substrate contains coke and boron, the addition amount of the boron being 0.1-5wt.% of the total amount of the coke and the boron. The coke is heat treated coke 1 which is obtained by heating crude coke of oil or coal, e.g. at 500-900 deg.C.
