PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the communication function of an integrated circuit without increasing the number of pins and exceeding standards by including a logic circuit which can operate so as supply a diagnostic mode control signal to an on-chip circuit and indicate I diagnostic mode of operation. SOLUTION: A data adapter 90 is constituted including a receiving shift register 114, a receiving buffer 116, reception control logic 110, a reception flow control state flip-flop 120, a transmission flow control state flip-flop 124, a transmitting shift register 118, and transmission control logic 112. Then, the adapter 90 implements a function for 'flow control' over both receive and transmit data. This flow control is performed beyond two borders, i.e., the border between a TAP controller and a data adapter 90 and the border between the data adapter 90 and on-chip source/destination logic that this adapter 90 interfaces. |
