PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a light source usable suitably for an original lighting device for reading an original, such as a so-called close contact image sensor. SOLUTION: A 1st side face 10A of a plurality of outer circumferential side faces 10A-10D, extended in the lengthwise direction of a transparent member 10 having a prescribed length, is used for a light-emitting face and any one region from among a plurality of the outer circumferential side faces 10A-10D is used for a light incidence section 15, a light propagated into the transparent member 10 from the light incidence section 15 is emitted externally from each part of the light-emitting face, while being a propagated in the lengthwise direction of the transparent member 10 in this light-transmitting member. End faces 5a, 5b at an end of the transparent member 10 in the lengthwise direction are formed to be tilting faces which are not orthogonal to each other with respect to the lengthwise direction of the transparent member 10.
