PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert an RGB (red, green, blue) signal obtained by image pickup at a digital camera into a cmyk (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) signal in a color with fidelity to an original scene. SOLUTION: After an RGB signal 12 being an output signal of a digital camera is converted into a photometry signal 18 by a matrix 20, the photometry signal 18 is forward-converted into a photometry END signal 52 by using a photometry END forward/reverse conversion matrix 50. Setup processing is applied to the photometry END signal 52 and gradation is converted and the signal 52 is inversely converted into the photometry signal 18 by using the photometry END forward/inverse conversion matrix 52. The photometry signal 18 after the inverse conversion is converted into a cmyk signal 46 preserving colors in terms of photometry by an original scene fidelity reproduction table 42. |
