FIELD: microbiological assays. SUBSTANCE: number of real ferrobacteria is determined from corresponding amount of ferric oxide (N) deposited on those microorganisms according to relationship: N = AK<SB>Fe</SB>/V where A is the number of ferrobacteria corresponding to 1 mg of ferric ions in 1 ml of test-source, V volume of sample, ml, and K<SB>Fe</SB> amount of ferric ions. EFFECT: improved accuracy and speeded up analytical procedure.
