The cup holder comprises a plate (3) having a lateral indentation (5). An arm (10) is pivoted on this plate opposite the indentation enabling, when deployed, to form with the indentation a housing for a cup. A lower support (9) receive the cup bottom when it is engaged in the housing. The arm can be positioned in several stable positions relative to the plate in order to define different sized housings. The arm is supported only against the lateral wall of the cup engaged in the housing. The device enabling the positioning of the arm are shaped to enable, in one or other pivoting direction the passage of the arm from one stable position to another when a certain force threshold on the arm is exceeded.
