High pressure gas-discharge lamp e.g. for optical applications

A high-pressure gas-discharge lamp has a discharge bulb and two lamp shafts formed on it, plus two sockets fastened with cement. Electrodes inside the discharge bulb are connected to the sockets by foils and current lead-ins, passing out of the ends of the lamp shafts. The temperature at the outer end of these shafts reaches at least 300 degC. Between this region and the cement on the sockets is a heat-resistant separating material that is absorbent, such as ceramic fleece or paper. The lamp shafts are "pinches". Each socket is a slotted shell of ceramic shoved onto the pinch.
