摘要 An ink jet recording method for printing by causing a reaction solution containing a reaction agent and an ink composition to adhere to a recording medium, wherein the weight of the ink composition allowed to adhere to a recording medium per dot is greater than the weight of the reaction solution. This method can accomplish pixels (e.g. dots) having an excellent image quality, particularly an excellent roundness, by controlling the surface tension of each of the two solutions and their adhesion quantities to the recording medium. The surface tension gamma 1 (mN/m) of the reaction solution, the surface tension gamma 2 (mN/m) of the ink composition and M = (weight of reaction solution adhering per dot on recording medium)/(weight of ink composition adhering per dot of recording medium) satisfy the following relationships: when gamma 1 < 35 and 40</= gamma 2</=55, M: 30 to 90 %; when gamma 1 > 35 and 40</= gamma 2</=55, M: 40 to 90 %; when gamma 1</=35 and gamma 2 < 40, M: 20 to 80 %; and when gamma 1 > 35 and gamma 2 < 40, M: 50 to 90 %.
