Mixed esters of polyvinyl alcohol - used in photopolymerisable varnishes

Photopolymerisable varnish compositions contng. mixed estes of polyvinyl alcohol or of a vinyl copolymer, esp. a copolymer of vinyl alcohol and vinyl chloride in which 20-60% of the hydroxy groups are esterified with cinnamic acid, 10-60% are esterified with a nitrated aromatic acid, esp. p-nitrobenzoic acid, and the remaining hydroxyl groups are free. The compns. have good storage stability and give corrosion resistant coatings of high resolution. Used on printing plates.
