<p>The present invention relates to a vehicle-related device for supporting one or more body parts. Seen in the normal direction of movement of the vehicle, the device is positioned behind and in the close proximity of the body part or body parts to be supported. The device is constructed to dampen rearward body part movement generated by a forwardly directed rear-end vehicle collision or impact. The device is constructed to exhibit resilient, spring-back properties (3a) in response to rearwardly acting, restricted body part movements and body part forces and has pronounced collapsible and/or deformable properties (70) that are responsive to rearwardly acting, further body part movements and rearwardly acting high body part forces, without exhibiting any significant resiliency and/or spring-back properties.</p> |
