Microtome for cutting thin metal or tissue sections for transmission electron microscopy

The microtome has a base (1), a blade (21) for cutting a sample (S), a blade support (2) on the base, and a support arm (3), which holds the sample at its front end and moves vertically, so that its rear end acts as a pivot. An arm movement mechanism (4) moves the arm vertically using a transfer lever (5) by providing a movement force which pushes the front end of the arm against the blade. A support plate (6) fastened to the base has the support arm fixed to it, so that it rotates and is held by a tension spring (34a) which pulls the transfer lever. A lever movement mechanism (7) has a small contact surface through which it pushes against the transfer lever.
