The milk frothing fitting has milk drawn from a reservoir by a Venturi effect from the steam line. To improve the efficiency of the frothing a frothing element (22) is fitted into the frothing chamber, to split the milk flow into a number of small ducts with a cross sectional area of 3-15 mm<2>. At least 5 ducts are provided to ensure a good frothing action and to increase the surface area of the milk for enhanced heat uptake from the steam. The frothing element is cylindrical with outer grooves and rotates under the flow of the milk. The upper end of the frothing element has a cylindrical hollow (30) into which the milk and steam mixture is directed. The underside of the frothing element has a conical depression (40).
