Reinforced covering cap for airbag system in motor vehicles

The covering cap has a weakened tear-off line (14) with reinforcing ribs for stabilisation on either side. The ribs (15) extend at right-angles to the tear-off line (14), and there is a material weakness (16) in the crossing point to act as a braking point. The weakening of the reinforcing ribs is formed by a V-shaped notch positioned at right-angles to the rib. The height of the ribs corresponds to a multiple of the covering cap wall thickness.
