A two-speed gear has an input shaft (1; 11) and an output shaft (2; 12) linked by gear wheels (3-6; 13-16) with different numbers of teeth to deliver different output ratios. The drive input shaft (1; 11) has a first (3; 13) and second (4; 14) input gear wheels which are permanently interlocked with first (5;15) and second (6; 16) power output gear wheels. The first input gear wheel (3; 13) or the first power output gear wheel (5; 15) and the second drive output gear (6; 16) have contra-rotating free-wheeling mechanisms (7, 8; 17, 18).
