The image converter (1) has a photocathode (5), an intensifier esp. a microchannel multiplier, a light screen (20) and an anode (21), whereby the photocathode, the microchannel multiplier, light screen and anode are arranged in layers. The photocathode and/or the anode are divided into a number of electrode regions (5-1,..), each associated with a region of the light screen. The electrode regions of the cathode and/or anode are grouped. The light screen regions emit different colours according to their associations with the different electrode groups.
