The invention concerns a method and an apparatus for quick inflating of an inflatable bag. The apparatus comprises means for inflating (50) an inflatable bag (14) defined by a device for supporting (12) a patient P. Said apparatus (10) is characterised in that it comprises first inflating means (52) producing an inflation with high delivery and low pressure for filling substantially the whole volume of the bag (14) with low pressure, and second inflating means (54) with low delivery but with high pressure for obtaining the predetermined inflating pressure of the bag (14). The invention provides quick inflating of the bag (14) which is particularly important in the context of medical application.
