Tetrahydronaphthalene derivs. of formulae (Ia) and (Ib), and salts of these are new; R1 = H, Br, CN, CHO, OH, lower alkyl, lower alkenyl, lower alkynyl, lower alkoxy, aryloxy, lower aralkoxy or aryl; R2 = an opt. protected chain of up to 20 amino acids, whose N-terminal amino acid is a free or protected amino gp.; A1-A4 = a residue of an amino acid, whose alpha -C atom, when it is asymmetrical, is in the L-configuration in A1 and A2, and in the D-configuration in A3 and A4; X = O or S; Y = a gp. of formula (i) or (ii); n = 0 or 1; R3, R4 = H or lower alkyl; Z = an opt. substd. benzene, furan, thiophene, pyridine or pyrimidine ring. Certain intermediates are also claimed. |
