The device, esp for a vehicle with an automatic gearbox which has a lever that can be set in a parking position and a sensor to detect the lever's position and control an electromagnet (42). The electromagnet's moving armature locks the rotary component (36) of an anti-theft lock (16) when the lever is not in the parking position, and is returned to its original position by a spring or a manual control element (80). The manual control element is a pusher which slides in a direction perpendicular to the movement of the armature (44) and has an inclined surface (98) which interacts with a shoulder (100) on the armature. It has a spring (92) to return it to its original position and a lengthwise slot (84) for the free end of the moving armature to pass through.
