The tool comprises a processing section, from one end of which a tool shaft (25) extends, with which the tool (5) is connectable with a holder of a handpiece. There is a vibration drive, with which the holder with the tool held in it is drivable in an oscillating manner. A damping device is arranged between the processing section and the tool shaft. A drive (2) is provided for the oscillating movement of the tool. The damping device comprises elastically deformable material, particularly plastics or rubber. The tool or the drive connection is formed in two parts and the two parts (4) are connected to one another by the damping device.
