The double layer flooring panel has a support base (1) onto which a masonry panel (7) is secured. The edges of the base panel are machined with a recessed lip to locate an L-shaped edging strip (5). This forms a lipped support to hold the masonry panel. The whole assembly is secured by adhesive. The prepared base panel is passed under an adhesive curtain and the edging strips are pressed into place first followed by the masonry panel. Any excess adhesive runs up between the edge of the masonry panel and the edging strip to form a securing fillet (9). The edging strip can be a simple aluminium alloy extrusion.
