The cleaning device consists of a rectangular cross-sectioned main part (1) open at the top with at least one underneath floor (13). A side guide element is for a closure piece (2) closing the top of the main part and sliding at right-angles to the lengthwise axis of the main part. Holes (4) in the edges join the closure piece and main part along their narrow sides parallel with the lengthwise sides. At least one self-driven cleaning element (5) is rotatably positioned in the main part underneath its imaginary centre axis (6) in the direction of travel. The main part acts as tank for the cleaning fluid (7) and has a separate compartment containing an electric drive motor and accumulator for the electric energy.
