Simple, horizontal air classification plant separating mineral matter from lignite

Here is a novel method of separating mineral matter, especially ash-forming constituents, which are often called simply "ash", even before combustion. It is suitable especially for lignite, i.e. brown coal. The coal is reduced to 0-10 mm and dried to a given moisture content. It enters a horizontal air flow of set velocity, from a feed point (7) above. The mineral particles are extracted in accordance with their mass and the air flow velocity, at positions (1-5) beneath and along the air flow.
