The shears have teeth (2.2) which are arranged alternately in parallel in dissimilar circles round the rotor (2) and correspond to the rectangular teeth (3.3) that project from the counterknife (3), so as to form a rectangular line of cut (3.4). The counterknife's position can be adjusted in relation to the rotor axis, or the rotor adjusts relative to the counterknife. The rotor may be built up from toothed shaft-mounted discs (2.1) and the counterknife may also have rear teeth (3.2) so that it can be reversed over its width and length. The adjacent teeth (2.2,3.1) may vary in width.
