<p>A wheeled reclining chair (20) is provided which includes a swing link assembly (86) for permitting the seat back assembly (28) to recline approximately 180° relative to the seat assembly (30) to provide a substantially flat occupant-supporting surface (figure 1C) such that the seat back (28) provides a rearwardly extending cantilevered surface (figure 1C) and the leg rest assembly provides a forwardly extending cantilevered surface (figure 1C) from the chair frame assembly (24). The swing linkage assembly (86) includes a pair of front slide assemblies (84) and a pair of rear swing linkage mechanisms (90) which suspend and operably couple the seat assembly (30) to the chair frame (24) for providing the desired reclining motion. A mobile base assembly (22) having front and rear wheels (44, 42) which can be removed from the base assembly (22) is also provided. The wheeled reclining chair (20) includes a tilt linkage mechanism (160) for tilting the chair frame (24) relative to the mobile base assembly (22). The mobile base assembly (22) optionally includes braking means (46, 250) which can be actuated either by the seat occupant, or by a care giver for preventing movement of the wheeled health care chair (20).</p> |
