<p>Sealing structure including a mastic combined with a swellable hydrophilic material. In one embodiment, the swellable hydrophilic material is a superabsorbent material such as a cross-linked polymer gel. In another embodiment, the swellable hydrophilic material is a fiber. The swellable hydrophilic material may be applied as a coating on a mastic substrate or combined throughout the mastic material. The sealing structure may be used to wrap groups of wires within a wire bundle to provide a barrier to the passage of liquids. If the liquid is oil-based, a lyogel is used in combination with the mastic.</p> |
