[Also in Division E1] A reinforcing bar for concrete is made by cold rolling a bar of circular section to produce longitudinal flats, the bar then being cold rolled by profiled rolls to form inclined ribs 6a, 6b, and 6c on the bar between the flats. The flats allow the ends of the ribs to merge more smoothly with the bar surface. The bar, before cold rolling, is hot rolled, and then cold drawn to size the bar and increase its tensile strength.</p> |
