1,193,736. Organosilicon polymer compositions. DOW CORNING CORP. 30 July, 1968 [25 Aug., 1967]. No. 36278/68. Heading C3T. A composition, curable to an elastomer, consists essentially of: (I) an organosilicon polymer having an average of 1.9 to 2.1 monovalent organic radicals per silicon atom which are hydrocarbon, halogenated hydrocarbon, or cyanoalkyl radicals, the silicon atoms are linked by oxygen atoms and/or (halogenated) hydrocarbon radicals; and (II) at least 0.001 per cent by weight of I of a dinitroso aromatic compound, in which two nitroso groups are directly attached to an aromatic ring, e.g. p-dinitrosobenzene. Preferred I are polysiloxanes of general unit formula: R n SiO 4-n/2 , where R is an alkyl, aryl, halogenated alkyl or aryl, alkenyl or halogenated alkenyl radical and n has an average value of 1.98 to 2.05, e.g. a dimethylsiloxane. The composition may also contain a filler. Examples relate to siloxane homopolymers and copolymers and siloxanesilcarbane copolymers. |
