The safety element consists of a frame (1) with a raised bar (4) which extends along the length of the hob. The bar is equipped with a hinged flap (9) which can be raised for additional height in appropriate situations. The bar has an inverted rectangular U-shaped section and is equipped with internal guides (10,11) which enable it to be depressed and locked in the retracted position when not in use, while the flap lies on top of the bar when retracted.
