PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a graded index(GI) plastic optical fiber which may be easily produced and is wide in band. SOLUTION: When this optical fiber is constituted by having a clad 4 and cores layers 1, 2, 3 consisting of three layers, the diameters of these cores are so formed that the first core 1 attains 0.56 <= first core diameter ratio <= 0.64 and the second core 2 attains 0.80 <= second core diameter ratio <= 0.95. The optical fiber is so constituted that the refractive index distribution thereof attains 0.09 <= first core refractive index ratio <= 0.12, 0.30 <= second core refractive index <= 0.90 and 0.015 <= the total core refractive index ratio <=0.035. |
