PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent reduction in processing speed, at the time of cleaning a transfer means for transferring a toner image on an image carrier to a transfer material by a system not using a high-voltage transformer. SOLUTION: This image forming device is provided with the image carrier 8, an electrifying means 7 for uniformly electrifying the image carrier, an image exposure means 3 for exposing the image carrier 8, to form a latent image, a developing means 9 for developing the latent image on the image carrier and the transfer means 13 for transferring the developed toner image to the transfer material. The transfer means 13 electrically floats with respect to the ground potential of the image forming device, to be kept at a high potential, to form the latent images of bright and dark potential parts on the image carrier 8, so that toner stuck to a transfer device is transferred to the image carrier 8, to clean the transfer means. In such a case, at the time of cleaning the transfer means 13, operation at a process speed faster than that at the time of normally forming an image is executed by a control means 20. |
