PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inflammatory cytokine in purified form partially showing characteristics and actions related to host responses to invading stimuli into mammals. SOLUTION: In this testing method, the ability of a chemical, which stimulates the development and/or activity of inflammatory cytokine rendered capable of bonding with heparin, inducing local bulges characterized by polymorphonuclear cellular infiltration at the time of hypodermic administration, and inducing the acceleration of polymorphonuclear cellular function on one hand, and rendered incapable of suppressing the activity of assimilatory amylase lipoprotein lipase, developing the cytotoxicity of cachecticorum/TNF reactive cells, stimulating the spore reproduction of intracellular enzyme-resistive C3H /HeJ thymocytes, or developing cachecticorum/TNF by primary thioglycolate administered mouse macrophage on the other.
