<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an apparatus and a method in which a periodic irregularity can be detected, in which an image processing circuit for exclusive use is not required and in which the costs of an image processing system can be suppressed by a method wherein a difference from a part separated by a specific section is set with reference to projection data on the image of a color filter. SOLUTION: A color filter 12 which is formed on a glass substrate 11 is irradiated by a transmission illuminator 10 or a reflection illuminator 7, and it is read by a sensor 4 as image data. With reference to projection data on an image stored in an image processing part 3, a difference from a part separated by a certain definite section is set, and a difference data is obtained. While the difference data is being shifted further one pixel by one pixel, a correlation coefficient is computed, the peak of the correlation coefficient and the position of the peak are found, and a periodic irregularity is detected. Since the projection data and the difference data are composed of one-dimensional data, they can be processed much faster than a case in which a differentiating processing operation, a smoothing processing operation and an integrating processing operation are performed to two-dimensional image data as in conventional cases.</p> |
