RAIN AREA GROWTH/EXTINCTION PREDICTING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate the growth or extinction of a rain area from a radar image by generating or extinguishing an image for the necessary predicting period in response to the intensity change of the rain area between continued frames. SOLUTION: An image input section 100 inputs the radar image of a rain area, and an image storage section 110 stores the past images in time sequence. An image change section 120 calculates the intensity change of the rain area between continued frames. An image growth/extinction section 130 generates an image when the intensity value is increased and extinguishes the image when the intensity value is decreased. An output section 140 generates and outputs the rain area growth/extinction prediction image. The growth or extinction of the rain area can be estimated from the radar image of a sharply reduced calculating cost.
